Monuments, 2019

The series transforms original 20th century archive war photos and film between the French, British and American female troops notably at the end of WWII and the reconstruction of Berlin city. The artist re-imagines through drawing, painting, photographs and AI scripting, how Berlin’s city rubble called “Trümmerberg” would build African monuments around the city, turning mounds around the city as points of visibility and accountability rather than generational trauma through disappearance and denial.
